Are my specs enough for gaming in windows 7?

Feb 17, 2011 4:55AM PST

I know that windows xp gives better performance in gaming but i really like windows 7 for its media center and for all the eye candy stuff.Act im not sure if my specs are good enough for comfortable gaming in windows 7 since it needs more specs than xp. My specs are: Processor:32bit Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93ghz Motherboard:Intel DG41RQ series Ram:4gb(2gbX2) ddr 2 GPU:NVIDIA Geforce 9500GT. So is it enough for gaming in windows 7. or i should go for xp. I play games like Mass effect,Assassins creed etc...

Those 9500 cards are outdated. Games should run but don't expect today's gamers to want this machine.

That card came in two flavors.
One had ddr2 ram the other ddr3....there's a bit of a difference in performance.
Neither flavor by today's standards is a gaming card.

I have one of those on a w7 machine......works fine....I don't game.
The card came with some rather old drivers.
The Nvidia site offered an arm load of newer drivers.
As I walked my way up these drivers and tested I found there was a peak.
If I went beyond the peak.....performance started to drop.

YMMV.
