Some reseller have offers throughout the year, depending on newer models introduction into the market, or some, during holiday seasons to take advantage of shoppers. Generally, older models will cost cheaper whenever a new model comes out, but it maybe a year or 2 old model.

As a student, Apple do offer promotions to students, usually before and during school terms (from where I am - Aust/Sg), which I'm quite sure they will for your location, more so with special offers of rebates and freebies thrown in.

Lenovo, Dell, do offers good deals even off-school term. One key thing is, Are you in a need to have one soon or can afford to wait? If you can wait, just wait till school starts (or closer to school starts) and shop around.
