Are HP Pavilion pc's proprietary as far as replacing the floppy drive?

I am asking for a friend and don't know the specifics, but I beleive the the system is 3-4 years old and it is running Windows ME.

HP uses std. FD drives. The only cavet is if the case becomes the front cover(bezel) for a floppy and thus the eject button must match any direct hole opening, etc. to be used. HP, provides some install tips/hints on models so check thier support website for that model, you didn't offer model #, so no clear answer.
