i am waiting for the nice Samsung dlps with 1080p resolution and 5000:1 contrast ratio. Those come out at the end of this febuary. Listen, it will make a big difference, so save your money, because eventually 720P will be useless as all tv will be in 1080p, same with dvd. So wait, and keep that plasma for years to come.
Just curious to hear some expert opinions on the pro's and con's of waiting for the next generation HD sets due out this spring. I, like many others, have the bug to buy now but I'm torn between exercising patience and waiting or jump in and buy now. This plasma TV will be a bedroom set getting a TV signal through a Satellite dish (Dish Network) where I predominantly watch sports, news, some movies and a few DVD's. The top 3 choices for buying now are Sony KDE-42XS955 (highest reslution 1024 x 1024 but also highest price), Pioneer PDP-4345HD ( 1024x768 resolution, great reviews, and hi tiech stores love this set for some reason) or Panasonic TH-42PX25U/P (great balck levels, contract ration of 3000:1, "butt Fugly" looks). Thanks for the insights
