SOL. Verizon is know for being one of the strictest carriers regarding device based data plans. Getting less for the same price is now the norm.
Playing the devil's advocate though- what makes you think you will actually use more than 2GB/month(?) Have you actually gone through your list of smartphone apps and calculated a rough sense of how much data you will be using? I'd do that before worrying about a cost you cannot control, especially if you are satisfied otherwise with your coverage/verizon service overall.

Not able to upgrade my old LG to a smartphone until 8/26. To try to grandfather unlimited data package, I added it to my acct July 1st - tho useless w. current phone - assuming I could transfer it to my upgrade. Now Verizon says I must selected one of the new limited plans, as my old LG phone data package is not compatible with any of the new smartphones, no matter which one I select.. Does anyone know whether this makes sense, or is Verizon just trying to get me to pay more for less? I hate to think I just wasted $60!
