Archos AV420

i was interested in buying the Archos av420 video recorder and, but had some questions and concerns. I wanted to know if there is any was to record a DVD onto the device. I have a lot of movies that i would like to put on the av420, but have not read on how to do it. I also read that the device will change the channel on a cable box if a program is to be recorded. What wires would i have to connect to the cable box for this option to work and soes the cable box have to already be turned on?

I can't support you in your endeavor, but will note that tools such as Virtual Dub, DVDecrypter and other tools could move the DVD content to a format that your Archos will use. Again, I can't help you do this, but will note it is possible.

Do not ask me to help you do this.

According to the review on Tom's Hardware, you can record a DVD to the device; however, you can't make a copy of it. Here is what it says:

"For DVD recording, the Archos is Macrovision-protected. But you can record a commercial DVD and watch it on the Archos. On the other hand, you can't copy it."

Here is the full review. Very thorough. I recommend checking it out before purchasing:
