Archos 605 WiFi DVR question

Oct 17, 2007 6:19AM PDT

I am interested in purchasing an Archos. WiFi is not much of an option for me. Can I hook the Archos up to my Direct TV DVR and download movies into the Archos. Movies which I have recorded. This would be ideal, but I am confused as to excatly how movies are loaded into the player. Thank you.

The Archos players are known to have their own DVR systems
if you wanted to tranfer videos from one that you have that can be a little tricky
IF there's a way to transfer out the videos, like USB, then you might have a good option
but if it can only playback, it gets more tedious
What connections does your DVR have?

Archos DVR question
Oct 18, 2007 7:09AM PDT

My Direct TV HD DVR has a USB port, HDMI, S-ATA port, ethernet. I'm obviously confused on how to get the movies into the Archos. If I could transfer my Dir TV DVR movies dirctly into it that would make it amazing.

how does the USB port operate?
If it works like an external harddrive, you should be able to transfer file directly through the 605's USB hub port
If it's not like that, then maybe the S-ATA port, but you'll need an adapter
direct transfers the best way, saves time and keeps full quality
Also depending on the format the videos are in, you said HD, so maybe H.264, you'll need an extra plug in on the 605
