Archos 605 wifi as a mp3 player (not pmp)... is it good?

Nov 5, 2008 6:21AM PST

Should I buy an Archos 605 wifi if my main use for it will be listening to music (on the bus and outside)? I see a lot of contradictory reviews and can't decide... what I like about it is the drag n drop feature (huge plus for me) and multi-task nature (plugins are free all over the internet... probably not legal though), but keep reading complaints about bad customer support, unit breaking down quickly (or can't boot), low audio volume, bad battery life (though I don't care about battery lenght in video; it's the audio that interests me...) and bad charging system (16 hours to charge it through usb since it doesn't come with a power supply) etc...

With that said, should I consider it as a good device to manage my 100gb music collection (no videos)? Or should I go towards the Zune? The Archos 605 160gb is 299,99$ (plus docking station around 40$) and the Zune 120gb is 234,99$... Is 100$ worth it just to get a drag n drop device or is the music player quality (sound, management, look, battery) of the Zune more appropriate as a portable music device?

Thanks
