Archos 402 Camcorder: VIdeo conversion

Hey everyone..just got the archos 402. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! here's the questions...is it possible to convert a commercial DVD into an avi file that will play on my archos?

If so...how? is there freeware, shareware? what are the steps...I'm having a really hard time....I have dvd decrypter, dvdshrink and some other stuff...but I can't figure it out.
