Question

Archer C3200 slower than my old N600 for online gaming.

Nov 12, 2018 8:03AM PST

Hello guys, I recently bought an archer c3200 to replace my old n600. With my old n600 for some reason had good connection with my computer but it was very slow with phone (0,1 kbps and smart tv so it was impossible to stream something or watching movies or videos), even if tv and phone are closer in term of distance to the router. Probably it was only a problem of priorities but I'm not capable to tweak the router.
As soon as I installed the archer c3200 all the devices go to maximum speed of my connection (30 down / 3 up) so I can watch movies and videos without buffering, loss of quality and from all the devices and I can download files at 30 at my connection speed.
Problem is, all the online games (both on pc or mobile phone) are unplayable. Lag and ping are crazy. Tried to use again my old n600 and I can play just fine, no lag spikes and no high pings, as soon as I put again the c3200 again lag spikes and high pings. All games are unplayable.

How come this happen? And how can I solve this problem? c3200 fimrware gives little options, there's not even a QOS so I don't know what to do. Anyone can help me? Thanks

Clarification Request
My last Archer

Needed a firmware update out of the box before it worked well. Be sure you have their latest.

After the firmware update try again but if that fails, why not use the new router as a WAP for the TV and such? Google like this: "How to use a router as a WAP?"

to mention that I did updated the firmware (last european fw is old anyway, cause its from 2016) but it didnt help. Access point idea is cool but I can't really take wires around the house, otherwise I would just straightforward directly connect my pc to the router (it's on another floor) to avoid all these problems.
Thanks anyway for the suggestions, it's really something I'll try to do with my older router. Now I'm thinbking to return this one and try with another if I can't find a solution
