If ARC fails (it does a lot!) I install an optical cable which I see you did. That seems to be the accepted cure.

Just got this TV and I cant get the ARC function to work. Believe me I have tried everything i could find reading endless forums. I am trying to set it up with an Onkyo HT-S3500. Im not sure if its the TV or the receiver, but I have to start somewhere. When I set it up as instructed I get video but no sound and the Onkyo remote locks up.Is there any way to use TV as a source since I use an HD
STB and have to use HDMI 2 as a source? Thought this might be the problem. When I unplug the AV the internal speakers actually sound better than the AV speakers. i am now using an optical to get good sound. Just wondering if any one else has this problem.
