There is no "Automater" on my computer (eMac). I've tried to download it, but it is always a part of another download.

Automator was introduced in OS X 10.4.0 (Tiger) and as such should be on your computer, no matter what model it is.

Update the OS to 10.4.11 and you "may" find Automator gets installed.

How did you look for Automator? Did you try Spotlight?

One purchase from eBay or one that you only use for eBay?

Either way, update that thing to 10.4.11, it's free
