Apple Vs. Windows for Photoshop

Oct 6, 2006 5:29PM PDT

Ok im stressed! im looking for a computer in which i plan to use strictly for Photoshop and Quark Express 7! its for a UF photojournalism degree requirement! With plans to by in fall of 07' this includes the release of Vista and maybe even Adobe native operation for Mac OS. Does anyone have suggestions about what operating system and peripherials like processor? Hard drive? Memory? Graphics and any others? in the price range of at most 4,000 monitor included. Thanks for you time.

And the same underlying code for the application is on both platforms there isn't much difference there. But if I could escape to a Mac I would if nothing for not having to be armed to the teeth against pests.

You've set your dollar amount so why not visit apple.com and see what you can get?

first of all if you are willing to spend 4000 in a computer, i dont need to worry about photoshop or any other program, what I mean is for tha much money, i should get at least, an intel core duo 2, 2 gb of high speed ram, 250gb of hard drive, and a really good graphic card, also with a monitor not smaller than 19".
You can actually get all of that with half that much money.

But regarding photoshop, I've been using photoshop myself for a full year now, and I m planning on getting my adobe certification next year, and I have a hp pavillion laptop, which has an intel centrino processor (which sucks), 1 gb of ram, and a 100gb hard drive, and I have no problems at all with it, even working with a 180mb (15 layers) file for my final project for my image restoration class.

I know adobe says that with 512mb of ram you shouldnt have problems, but, while I didnt have my laptop, i was working on my aunt's laptop which is the same as mine but has 512m of ram, and I ll tell you, you will definately feel the difference!

i hope it helps
