Hello. I?m struggling with the decision to move to Apple or Google?
Here's my situation:
1. I own a MacBook and an iPhone.
2. My primary needs are apps to support e-mail, contacts and calendar. I work primarily on my laptop but would love to be able to sync all 3 with as little thought as possible and ideally on the go.
3. I'm a long-time Hotmail user ready to change my identity to either @me.com or @gmail.com in order to take advantage of the products each company provides. I've set up accounts and have toyed with each.
4. I use Apple's Address Book to maintain my contacts.
5. I believe that both Gmail and Google Calendar are superior to Apple's products based on my experience and research.
6. I love the fully wireless sync aspect of Mobile Me.
7. I know that Address Book can be synced with Google Contacts and iCal can be synced with Google Calendar (via Spanning Sync, for example), but from my understanding this requires you to "plug-in" in order to perform the sync. Correct?
8. Gmail allows me to import my entire Hotmail library of messages via POP, thus providing me access to these messages with my future tools. Mobile Me does not.
9. Mobile Me?s service that tracks a lost iPhone is attractive to me, considering my phones (as well as shades, cameras, etc) have been known to be a bit ?slippery? to me in the past.
I think the big question is whether I want to give up Google?s gmail and calendar applications for the fully wireless sync of Mobile Me.
Your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
