apple mail does not always display embedded HTML

Aug 9, 2009 10:22PM PDT

in last 10 days i have transitioned (with apple store help) from a 2002 imac running 10.4.11 and entourage v.x version 10.1.6. to a new imac 24" running the apple mail, ical, address book suite. i am running safari 4.02 on both machines.

on the old machine in almost all cases any embedded graphics or photos were automatically displayed in the email window. if not, i would click to see them in the safari browser. my preferences were set to allow this.

in some cases, my new machine will not display graphics/photo material in the email or even on the browser. i have checked my preferences, and i think apple mail should permit display of html. what i do get sometimes in a blue box with a question mark in it.

a search of pogue's missing manual yields no help for this one.
