I had no idea! I wish I had a copy of the email, but I don't. I do remember I said due for Aug 7, or no later depending on development (email sent in early-mid July)... I am baffled!

And as for being FakeSteve?....no comment

Apple announcement vs. NASA Space Shuttle launch...

August 7th - Apple announcement vs. NASA Space Shuttle launch...

so Apple is supposed to make some big announcement on August 7th...well, NASA is scheduled to launch 7 people into space that day. For me and those who love exploration, space shuttle launch FTW.

Besides, although Apple may think that they've hit the harmonic frequency with consumers (in the U.S.) - I think Apple announcements are loosing their punch...I just don't think it'll be sustainable.

Best,
Shalin

Teacher-Astronaut, additional truss segment; Mars robot...
by shawnlin / August 1, 2007 12:38 AM PDT

For the Space Shuttle mission:
Additional truss segment will be flown up and installed. The SpaceHab segment will be flown up to facilitate some science experiments. Also, one of the ISS gyros will be replaced.
Teacher-Astronaut B. Morgan is going up and will be handling the robotic arm (the system I was involved with) with another astronaut Dr. T. Caldwell (I've met both and this was the original mission I was assigned to when I got to Houston, so it has some extra importance to me)

Also, NASA will be launching the Mars Phoenix robotic lander on 8/8 or 8/9.

Big launch weekend... of course, all launch dates/times are subject to change. Wink

I love launches!

I saw one in real life when we went to the Kennedy Space Center... it was just a satellite, and if we had been there a week later we coulda seen a shuttle launch, but nevertheless cool!

Thoughts about the announcement
by nat898 / August 1, 2007 8:23 PM PDT

As some of you may have heard, Apple have said that the August 7 announcement will be all about the Mac. I just thought that I would add my interpretation of this (a.k.a WISHES). Apple have said that their will be upcoming iPods which run Mac OS X (just like the iPhone), now Apple, being the sneaky company that we all know they are could swing the "Mac announcement" to be an iPod announcement and justify their naming of the event by saying that these new iPods are actually Macs.

Just some of my wishful thinking as I'm in Australia and won't be able to get an iPhone (legally) until next year.
