...but I'm of the opinion that rushing retail items to capitalize profits on this particular film is in poor taste. I'm trying to remember if that was done during Schindler's List? Did they market Holocaust trinkets then or not? I really don't remember any.
I'm reminded of those silversmiths, I think in Ephesus, that were upset at Apostle Paul's teachings because they feared it would interfere with their profits in selling their idols. I also recall a disparaging statement made about those who were "peddlers of God's word".
However, if people are willing to wear a crucifix, a symbol of death, around their neck, then maybe nails aren't so bad either.
It's one of those things I sort of try to overlook in hope the greater part will be the impact of the movie on people's perception of what Christ suffered and why he accepted the assignment.
A passion for profit, anyway.
