Interesting polling company, Kiddpeat...

Kiddpeat, that 6% for Nader surprised me, so I looked at the polling company's sales spiel and found, "At Ipsos-Insight, we listen hard to our clients to make sure they get what they need. And that?s answers, not research.".

Perhaps, Kiddpeat...

Kiddpeat, perhaps they shouldn't put lines like "in the survey conducted for the AP by Ipsos-Public Affairs" in the story. (grin)

Re: AP Poll Finds Bush, Kerry Tied in Race

Hi, KP.

What appals me is that Nader polls 6%. OTOH, Bush can no longer claim to be "a uniter, not a divider" or be able to "cut the logjam in Washington." The more strident and non-presidential he is, especially to "protect the base," the more he's likely to alienate moderates and independents. So I think his active campaigning may actually hurt him. A large part of it will be who kerry picks as his running mate. Edwards is the right choice, but would take some courage -- no one is likely to say the ticket is "upside down" if carry chooses Bob Graham (not our Bob, but the retiring FL Senator).

Let's see ...

... Senator Little Engine That Could, couldn't beat Kerry in GA. So much for adding him to the ticket to counter Kerry's MA Liberal. A one term US Senator who is not even running for re-election to that post -- rumor has it he would have stood a good chance of defeat. OK, good pick! Wink

Serious campaigning would be nice.

It would certainly be a huge step up from the blood stained crap he's been spewing so far.

Let's see.

Leadership is an issue on which Bush wins hands down.

Can Kerry take a position on ANYTHING that doesn't straddle the fence? Haven't seen him do it yet. Campaign on the issues? Bush has tried. Gets accused of attacking when he questions Kerry's votes in the Senate.

He could probably run an ad praising Kerry's vote FOR the Patriot Act and FOR the Iraq Resolution and be accused of attacking.

Bush is leading us by

example in his use of the victims of 9-11 as props in his campaign. He can't be leading us to a good place that way.

You raised the specter of bush's campaign. That is obviously what my post is responding to.

Since Dave and a few others like polls so much here is an interesting one:

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush%20Kerry%20February%2019.htm
"When asked which candidate is more honest and trustworthy, Bush is selected by 43% and Kerry by 35%. When asked who can best understand the concerns of people like you, it's a toss-up, Bush 43%, Kerry 41%."

and
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/Bush%20Kerry%20February%2022.htm
"* Regardless of who they want to win, 51% of all voters believe George W. Bush will be re-elected. That's down from 55% a month ago. Thirty-five percent (35%) now believe Kerry will win, up from 30% a month ago."

This means Bush is actually ahead.

If it really was tied, they would give Kerry the margin of error and declare him in the lead.
