Aol, mac, pc, bt voyager 2100 network - help

Here is my problem - I have a pc connected through an ethernet cable to a bt voyager 2100 modem router. My isp is Aol. ( which could be the problem) I have a brand spanking new emac with airport extreme card. I cannot connect to the internet on the mac and i can't connect to the internet easily on the pc although it does work sometimes. The strange thing is, that i can access the pc's shared files from the mac, and connect to aol through the aol program ( but only when the pc is connected at the same time) and all i can do with this is check emails, go on various aol keywords, use my buddy list to talk to people and all of this works fine, but it wont connect to any websites at all. I also tried using ichat, and various other programs to connect and these don't work either. Bt says that the mac is blocking the connection and that aol should give me a secondary dns code that isn't there, aol say they can't and say to phone bt, bt then say to phone aol again...and this goes on. I would appreciate any help greatly as if this doesn't work, then I will have to swap the router with another that aol supports to see if that works, or in the worst case, send back the mac which i really don't want to do. Can anyone help?

AOL and BT

Despite not being a big fan of AOL, Windows or British Telecom, I will attempt to help.
1. The fact that you say you have great difficulty accessing the Internet with the PC seems to indicate that this is not a Mac specific problem.
2. Your ISP is NOT AOL. It is BT. Question: What happens if you launch Internet Explorer, without launching AOL on your PC? You are actually on the Internet as soon as the PC is turned on. AOL is not the internet, it's more like a giant Sainsbury's where you can get a bunch of stuff under the one roof.
3. If you cannot access the Internet, with IE, and without AOL, then BT is your problem. Try to elimate the problem one step at a time. From the information you have given, it would seem that you do not have a good connection to the Internet to start with.
You do not need AOL to access the Internet. Try it and if it does not work, call BT. It IS their problem
Once that is sorted out, you should be able to connect wirelessly with the Mac

Hey I have the same problem - don't recoomend it if you have AOL. if any 1 has the same problem and have resolved it please email me ************ (email address removed) - all help much aprieciated.

This is very anoying because both AOL and BT say they cant help - BT say AOL should help and AOL say they dont uspport it :@

AOL and Macs

I threw away the modem AOL supplied and got a router - Netgear - now PC and 2 Macs work perfectly, including AOL on the Macs, even though AOL says it won't support Macs on Broadband.

If you disposed of the Modem that AOL supplied and purchased a Router from Netgear, how is the Router connected to the Internet?
At some point in the chain, you have to have a Modem.

Could your problem have had nothing to do with AOL and have been caused by you trying to use TWO modems?
