AOL 8.0

Feb 22, 2005 4:09AM PST

Ever since installing AOL 8.0, I have been unable to delete email, by, right clicking, hitting the delete key on key board, or the red X at the top. I am running WinXP Home. DSL connection, 512 ram two 60 Gig HD's. I can remove these emails by going through "download manager", but that is the only way. When the email goes into "download manager" it is has an attachment to it. Thanks

A couple dumb questions:

1. You are using the AOL For Broadband client, right? if not do so; that helped a friend who had the same issue...

2. Have you tried an uninstall and reinstall of the software? You might try that. NOTE: Save your Download and Organize folders to somewhere else so you don't lose anything.

If all else fails, you might consider Version 9.0...

Try AOL 9.0 SE, AOL finally got it right this time..

Unintall and reinstall is a good idea but I suggest you uninstall 8.0 and install 9.0.SE Call and have them send you a free disk (or just go to BEST BUY and pick a free one up instantly). All my AOL problems ended with the new 9.0SE version. Be sure and delete the 9.0 features you don't use (ie aol messenger) and disable the auto launch feature.

9.0 uses a lot of RAM but your 512MB system will support it. It's connectivity can work poorly with only 256MB Ram systems running at over 70% of load.

Have AOL tech support on the phone with you as you do the uninstall/reinstall to ensure you loose no important data from your PFC stored on your computer. As a safety measure, forward "read" and "sent" emails and other documents you want to keep to your own AOL screen name and don't open them until you to the reinstall. AOL will keep them stored for you.
