The "A" series of cameras by Canon is their biggest selling series of cameras.

The A95 is a seasoned camera, having come from the A80, which was an A70 with more features. The basic design has been around and tweeked for several years.

There should be no unpleasant surprises that a new design can produce.

But you should read what owners think of their A95 cameras:

Here is the conclusion page of a recent review:

Sounds like a winner to me.

Thanks for the info and a great review site. I personally own the Nikon 5200, but wanted to buy my parents one for Christmas. I can get both cameras (Nikon 5200 and Canon A95)for the same price + a free memory card (128mb). I think 359.00 at Best Buy. The only thing is the Canon does not have a tripod mount which is a + for us.

Thanks. Haven't seen the camera yet

Have just been reading the reviews and specs. Specs never mentioned a tripod mount, like all other camera's that did have the tripod mount.(At least the specs I have read. Thanks again for the assistance. Did you ever give me your opinion on the Nikon 5200/Canon A95. I'm not sure I ask?

You are somewhat comparing apples and oranges.

The Nikon 5200 is a point-and-shoot camera with some scene modes that give you some control over automatic.

The A95 is an intermediate camera with a full set of manual over-ride capabilities. It can function as a point-and-shoot (auto mode) or enable the photographer greater control of the photographic situation.

Anyone who wants to get more involved with the picture taking process will prefer the A95.

If you are interested in the Nikon 5200 you should read the review (see link below). Especially the last paragraph on the Conclusion page (9); comments about improving the photos by using software.

Thanks.
This purchase is a Christmas gift for my parents who are somewhat photogs not for me I already own the Nikon 5200 and haven't had to use any software fixes yet, even on some 8x10 shots. I would have liked to have seen the review I just saw before I bought the Nikon, because I like the manual overide option of the Canon. I did a lot of research and review reading before, it's hard to read every review. Mabye I'll give them my Nikon and buy the Canon for myself. I have to admit I really have enjoyed the Nikon. It has taken some great crisp shots.
Do you have an opinon about the Epson RX600 3 in 1 printer. Thanks Again!

Printers
Oct 20, 2004 10:24AM PDT

I owned one Epson printer several years ago and experienced problems and never bought another one.

I still read reviews of some printers and see the words "some banding" mentioned often on Epson reviews.

I see good thing written about Canon and Hewlett Packard printers. I own a 3 in 1 Hewlett Packard (psc-750) and it prints excellent photos (no banding).
