General discussion

Anyone recommend a point-and-shoot that shoots 720p video?

Jan 5, 2011 3:06AM PST

I need one that shoots video with autofocus. It seems all of the snazzy Canon Powershots that have 720p or higher video capabilities are all worthless since none of them can focus on moving objects. I recently returned my Canon 4000IS because of this problem.

Other desired specs:
-10 Megapixels or higher
-3x or higher optical zoom
-stereo sound recording with mics in front, not top of camera
-something larger than a point-and-shoot is fine, just no DSLRs.
Thanks!
Robbie

Panasonic's lumix lx5 is your answer hands down. This little wonder not only shots the very best in 720, but it also is able to zoom why shooting and allows you to choose settings. The lx5 is also by far the best camera for low light shooting. Do an internet search and check out its capablities, you won't be disappointed.

thanks for the tip billins! It looks like I'd have to get a slightly larger camera if I want it all. It looks very nice. I will research this model heavily now.

Point and shoot with Fuji.

Try Fuji Finepix AV180. I am delighted with mine. Cheap easy to use. At 720p the video is suprisingly good. uses AA batteries. 14 mgpixel stills excellent.
