No, that's Shirley Manson.

As to the original question, I don't know. Maybe something's wonky in Google. Or maybe some anti-Avril types are trying to imply that her music is garbage, and the band Garbage just happens to own that particular domain.

Incidentally, both Bleed Like Me and Under My Skin are currently in my CD player.

A bug?

In reply to: Anyone know why a Google search for Avril Lavigne...

Google ranks pages by the links that point to them relative to the search term but the google search link:www.garbage.com "Avril Lavigne" yields no results. This seems to indicate that there are no pages indexed by Google containing the phrase "Avril Lavigne" that even have a link to garbage.com anywhere on the page.

Did you try it?

In reply to: A bug?

Maybe it's something wrong with my comp. When you tried the search, was garbage.com the first result? Safesearch on/off doesn't matter.

I have no absolute answer ... but ...

In reply to: Anyone know why a Google search for Avril Lavigne...

I have a bit of a guess, seeing as how I get the same result whether I type in her name with or without quotes.

It could be that the band, Garbage (who in the heck thought up that name??!!), just happens to have a really good website designer/administrator that provides the factors required by Google to be either the #1 result or close to it whenever certain musician/band references are typed into Google Search.

Could be ....... might not be even close Wink

The domain name, garbage.com, is registered to Geffen A&M Records. Isn't that her band's record label? Nothing out of the ordinary here.

Nope, Avril's on Arista.

In reply to: whois garbage.com

Bleed Like Me is on Geffen, but prior to that Garbage was on Interscope.
