Anyone has Sony DVP-NS70H or DVP-NS90V?

Dec 18, 2005 9:10AM PST

I am looking for DVD player with HDMI out and can play JPG images in data CD or data DVD on my Sony 50" LCD projection HDTV, which has HDMI in. The difference between DVP-NS70H and DVP-NS90V is 90V can adjust the picture quality by "BNR" (Block Noice Reduction)and "MNR" (Mosquito Noise Reduction). 90V can also play Supper Audio CD but I am not interested in that. My main concern are "BNR" and "MNR" are necessary? If they are. Are the function effective? If you have DVP-NS70H, what is the jpg image quality on HDTV? Many thanks for your reply.

I own the DVP-NS70H and all I can say is it is a good dvd player. It is an upconverting player which is best appreciated with a digital monitor such as yours. Don't be too caught up in the other stuff you mentioned in the ns-90v, after all, dvd is still 480p I believe. Save your cash for the next evolution of dvd. Make sure you connect with HDMI and set the resolution in the dvd player to auto.

Show jpg images on dvp-ns70h

Hi mrjef23,
Thank you for your reply.
There are two way to show pictures.
One way is use DVD writer software to burn the images in DVD then play it as you would play DVD movies. The pictures quality is unsatisfactory due to 480p DVD limitation as you mentioned.
The other way is use DVD or CD as data DVD or data CD, save the jpg file(1920x1080) directly in CD or DVD. Acording to dvp-ns70h Operating Instruction, dvp-ns70h will reconize it as data DVD or data CD then play jpg file one by one or as slide show. If use HDMI connection, Sony claims that the picture will be near HD quality. Have you try to show your picture this way?
I buy dvp-ns70h only for show jpg picures. I have other DVD player for DVD movies.
