with Security Update for PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (KB969615)I have it installed on my PC 11 times starting in April and it finds it over and over, also it doesn't show up in add remove in control panel. I have been gone for 2 weeks and apparently everytime my PC was started it downladed it again!!! Rats! Win XP Home, generic PC

Start From Scratch... Do You Have PowerPoint Viewer 2003??
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / May 28, 2009 8:19 AM PDT
In reply to: I just tried it

If PowerPoint Viewer 2003 shows up in Add/Remove Programs, try uninstalling it first. Once that's done, if you already have PowerPoint installed from Office, then don't reinstall the viewer. The Office version works just fine. On the other hand, if you don't have PowerPoint installed and you need a viewer, then download the NEWER PPV 2007 installer from the link below and install it. It will work for the same versions of PowerPoint files PLUS it also allows you to view PP 2007 files. Once that's done, visit the Windows Update site and see if there is a slightly different update for it.

Hope this helps.

I still can't get the other 11 updates off! They are not showing at all unless I check my updates.

It's not clear what you mean by: "I still can't get the other 11 updates off!"

If you're referring to the Windows Updates site's "Update History", then they will stay there.. It's the website's record of your computer's past installation history.. Basically, it's not important simply because you no longer have PP Viewer 2003 installed on the computer.. Forget about it and move on..

On the other hand, if you're referring to the "Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs" section, I've never seen where there would be 11 indications of installing the same program. That would indeed be strange...

Hope this helps.

but I have had numerous updates show up in add/remove. Those were easy to remove, not quite sure why these don't show up in add/remove, but like you said no big deal. Thanks Grif

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
