Anynet with Yamaha receiver

Feb 14, 2010 10:43PM PST

My system:
Samsung- LED UN55B7100
Samsung- BD-1590
Yamaha- A/V receiver RX-V465
Comcast- HD DVR Cable box

I have all components connected through the yamaha receiver as follows:
TV HDMI out of the receiver into the TV HDMI 1
Cable box HDMI 1 in the receiver
Blue Ray HDMI 2 in the receiver

When we are watching the tv/cable box and the yamaha receive is on all is fine. When we are watching tv (blue ray is off) and i use the cable remote and turn off all components to include the yamaha receiver all turns off. When i attempt to turn the tv/cable box on only using the cable remote the tv comes on briefly then no signal then on breifly and no signal. The receiver is in the standby mode and the cable signal is in pass through mode via the HDMI from the yamaha receiver to the TV. The problem i'm noticing is that when I turn the Yamaha receive off using the cable remote the mode setting automatically changes from HDMI 1 (TV) to AV1 (no component installed) and that is why the TV is not recognizing the signal. I turned the anynet+ off and this corrected the problem but i like having the anynet+ on. Is there a fix for the Yamaha receiver changing modes automatically when the cable remote is used?

My receiver automatically goes to AV1...then I switch to HDMI2....the receiver switches back to AV1....I switch again and this time it stays on HDMI2....kind of annoying.

Anynet with Yamaha receiver

jcarrierjr,

Most likely not. The Yamaha receiver likely doesn't have Anynet+, although it may support HDMI-CEC devices. Not all receivers can pass through the Anynet+ at all, so the fact that it does to the limited extent is pretty good.

If turning off the Anynet+ corrects the problem, it may be that the incorrect CEC signal is sent from the receiver to the TV, or the television is receiving a signal that puts it into the AV input. You may want to check to see if the Yamaha has its own HDMI-CEC functions, and if so, maybe try turning that off.

It may also be something with the cable remote - that I just wouldn't know.

Do both of you have the same exact receiver? Check the manufacturers website - some receivers also offer firmware updates to correct issues that are found. May be worth checking out.

Anynewt with Yamaha receiver

My receiver has an option to automatically go to a certain input but all of the options are the analog inputs only. My Sony Blu-Ray player works perfectly. When I turn the Yamaha on, then turn on the Sony, it automatically goes to the HDMI1 input and even turns the Samsung Tv on. It stays on the HDMI1 input. When I switch to the cable box it will go to the correct HDMI2 input automatically. But if I am just turning the TV on, I have to switch to the HDMI2 several times before it stays there when using the cable box.
