I don't have recent experience in a VA hospital, but my guess is that the VA system is still a mess.

I understand the need to provide medical care to our veterans, but my own experience at VA hospitals during medical school and residency makes me believe that the current system is creating more problems than it solves.

It seems to me that a system modeled more along the line of an insurance plan (like the retiree's Tricare program) would make more sense.
