Any VPN recommendations?

Hi. I'm traveling to China next month and will bring with me a laptop. I'm concerned about network security and have found a cheap service in HotSpotVPN. I'm not sure they have servers all over the world, though. All I want to do is to access websites via a secure connection; I don't have a corporate network to access. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Hot spot and VPN?

I wonder if that goes together. Assuming one can get VPN but I wonder how much it would cost. Just thinking out loud.

What other options are there?

I may also need to hit a netcafe during my travels. I guess I'm just paranoid about plain text of my emails traveling through cyberspace in unfamiliar country. What would you do?

I don't know what to say about that.

I suppose one take the same precaution as we do here in the states. Personally I never carry a computer when I am on vacation (I been back there a few times with my brother-in-law and his family). I know he and his son uses the computer in hotels and airport..and I have not heard of them being attack (or at least they didn't tell me, hehe).

If you don't carry any thing important then there won't be anything to steal.

I also worry about netcafes being riddled with spyware. I don't have the luxury of access to a computer in an acquaintance's home...

NOT hotspotvpn

In reply to: Any VPN recommendations?

I signed up for hotspotvpn. It didn't work. I submitted a detailed request for help, received boilerplate response acknowledging receipt of email. Still being billed. More emails; same boilerplate responses. VERY unhappy!!!
