Question

Any thoughts about who is payinig for this?

Oct 22, 2018 10:49AM PDT

Caravan thru Mexico....7000 strong now X $7000 each, give or take = $49 MILLION dollars even with hurricane force weather coming right at them from two separate but simultaneous storms (one an actual hurricane, the other a tropical storm).

Who organized this just before our election, do you think? And would be willing to put children at risk? From news reports from various sources, most are traveling via vans and trucks and only get out and actually walk when news cameras are in place to tape it.....and everybody except Fox has noticed and estimated that 90% of them are young, healthy men between the ages of 15 and 35 (the rest are women and children), and from every newsfeed that I've seen, NONE of them appear to be underweight or even in tattered clothing. IF they had no jobs where they are coming from HOW are they eating so well and buying pretty decent looking clothing?

If I sound unsympathetic, I am......I just can't buy the "We're running away to have better lives" garbage when NONE of them are seeking asylum in MEXICO and everyone I've seen interviewed so far have all stated they are heading to the USA deliberately. Mexico is an international country that offers asylum, so why not ask for it there instead since they are already in that country and out of 'harm's way'?

There are a ton of US immigration attorneys traveling with them, and at least one person interviewed admitted that he was being 'taught' how to answer questions at the US border when he asks for 'asylum'....

That's IF you are a smuggler....

ABC News-Oct. 18, 2018
U.S.-bound migrant caravans have been going on for years — with traveling in numbers seen as offering protection from assaults, robberies, even shakedowns by police. They're also a cheaper alternative to the $7,000 to $10,000 that smugglers, charge for passage to the border

IF they are coming

because they want a better life and have no money, where are they getting the money to eat well, clothe themselves pretty well, AND pay that kind of money to get here? Even I don't have $7K floating around to take a 'walk about' to another country and I have a steady income and don't have to feed kids anymore. Yeah, I'm skeptical of this garbage. SOMEBODY is paying MILLIONS for this....aren't you curious about who that might be?

AND neither do they....that's why they didn't go the smugglers route...The same as you would have to since you also don't have $7K floating around.....YOU could be them.....IF you had the ambition to attempt such a journey.

It doesn't cost $7K when you do do it yourself...Get it?

I agree it's suspicious

but have no real answers. Yesterday's news said they were still 2000 miles away. If they were truly walking, it would likely take about 3 months (give or take) for the caravan to arrive. I read that our own westward bound wagon trains made 10-20 miles a day so that 3 month estimate could be optimistic.

I could never imagine such a thing to be spontaneous. It would need to be planned, organized and directed. Otherwise, most of these people would likely disburse before arriving at our border.

Correction after today's news
Oct 22, 2018 4:57PM PDT

Now, they say the caravan is 1000 miles away with about a month and a half to go before the border is reached. If this is correct, we're talking early to mid Dec. I find it strange that there's 1K mile different in the report from one day to the next. Facts aren't all that important anymore.

If you can walk a mile every 15-20 minutes, then 6-8 hours a day would get you 20 miles down the road. If 1000 miles away, that would be 50 days away now. Even in the USA you can get a can of beef stew at Walmart for $3.50 and a can of GV carrots for 50 cents and have a full healthy meal, so each person could get by on $5 per day for food probably. Add a bag of sugar and some tea bags, you have something providing more energy for the ordeal of the walk. Even if they used $10 per day per person for food, that would still be $500 yet needed each to make it to the US border. As noted, some are catching rides, but they also want to stay in the main group for common security reasons. If there are 5,000 of them, that's still 2.5 million dollars needed for them all to reach the US border. This is a harvest month, so they may also be stealing produce from fields they are passing by.

Are you saying that Mexico is a hell hole? And that even people supposedly worse off than those in Mexico don't want to stay there? You can't have it both ways, JP.....liberals keep saying that lately the illegals coming aren't from Mexico anymore....is that because they are happy where they are at finally? If that's the case, then Mexico is safe to stay in now so CA migrants should be more than happy to seek asylum THERE, right? But they aren't even considering that......USA is their target and SOMEBODY is directing it with a big pocketful of cash. Do you know that the $49M that it's costing somebody to traipse them through over 2000 miles with lots of publicity is the ENTIRE yearly amount WE send to Honduras every year via OUR taxpayers' pockets? IF you are going to fund a caravan for that amount of money, why not just give it to the government of Honduras directly to take care of their people or build businesses so they can have jobs and that would DOUBLE the ability to do that? An AGENDA and the RISK of people DYING to get them here during a USA election period is more important than ANY HUMANITARIAN contribution, I guess. It's all bullshift……...

Do "accurate figures" change?

Trump’s claim of jobs from Saudi deals grows by leaps and bounds

Moreover, the Aerospace Industries Association says that in 2016, there were 355,500 manufacturing jobs supported by the entire defense and national security industry, generating $146 billion in annual exports. So it’s hard to imagine that $110 billion in deals with Saudi Arabia, spread over a decade, would significantly add to that total, let alone more than double it.

i know you've been "on the road" but were you really that out of touch with reality?
- Collapse -
75% increase
Oct 23, 2018 7:20AM PDT

And we don't know how that breakdown of figures were applied, to what area the increase was in, presumably not including all the aerospace manufacturing, since Trump was speaking ONLY of deals between Saudi Arabia within those exports. You are trying to compare the ENTIRE industry to a subset to make an erroneous point.
