Question

Any software application that can act as a local proxy..?

I am accessing the internet through the college WiFi whose proxy settings require a password and username every time an application tries to access the internet.. this is annoying at times while i open firefox and enter the url the proxy requests a password.. So is there any app that can store the password and provide internet connection around the system without any disturbance.. ?

Why not ask the college staff?

They might use one themselves.

Even if there were

Even if there were, this would almost certainly be considered a violation of the college's ToS, and could very well land you in some trouble. At the very least, they would likely suspend your network access privileges as a result, maybe revoke them permanently. So you may want to ask yourself if it's really worth that kind of risk.

I am not trying to use unauthorised websites any way..

In reply to: Even if there were

All i want is to have an app that just provides a virtual connection which does not ask for any username or password while it is active... i want that application to provide the password and username to the proxy instead of me.. I have seen this in ubuntu where i can apply a system wide proxy setting.. I badly want such an app because some applications cannot make use of this connection.

Sorry, but

it is an unwritten rule of these forums that help cannot be given that might contravene policy decisions made by organisations such as universities, colleges, workplaces and so on.

As has been suggested, your best bet is to seek help from the college IT Department t do what you wish. If they say no, then there is nothing further you can do.

but specifically stated in Forum Policy, as in;
