Due to a Microsoft legal conniption fit, VIRTUAL DUB can open (with its extended open) many so-so .AVI files, but NONE encoded in Microsoft's proprietary format. Microsoft has stifled development of such tools.
In closing, since hard disks are temporary storage, what is you new backup plan?

Not too long ago I turned on my computer and my 250GB Maxtor hard drive was labeled as gibberish. It used to be Local Disk (D). None of my files were accessible. Since then I ordered Ontracks recovery program and it successfully recovered most of my files. The problem is that a lot of them are now "corrupt". Is there any way to fix these files?
