Any noticeable loss going from Palm OS 5.2.x to OS 4.x

Mar 28, 2005 8:49AM PST

Can any one answer a pretty simple question?
I've been using a T/E with Palm OS 5.2.x. I'm looking to go to a smartphone that runs OS 4.x. I know I'll sacrifice some screen resolution (320x320 to 160x160). Functionally, will I miss OS 5, or the higher resolution screen? Thanks.

I'd miss both

OS 4 is one heck of a lot slower than OS 5, and it's hard going from a high res to a color screen, you will definetly notice a big difference.

Go from PalmOS 4 to 3.5.

I wrote an application and it was sluggish on PalmOS 3.5. It's been awhile, but I bought the OS 4 upgrade for the Palm IIIc and the application ran twice as fast (actually more than that.) They had optimized some color lookup calls and more.
