Any non-ipods compatible with MPEG-4 video file format?

Sep 21, 2006 2:34PM PDT

I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive, non-ipod brand mp3 and video player. I was looking at the Sansa e200 series, but a friend of mine said that they she cannot download any MPEG-4 videos onto her player. I download a few podcasts that are in that format that I'd like to be able to watch on my mp3 player.

I've been looking at the Creative Zen V Plus and the Samsung YP-K5.

Would either of those work??

I don't think YP-K5 can play videos...maybe I am wrong;;

I think mpeg-4 is too broad, too many variety.

The Sansa e200 series support "MS playforsure" so it should be able to play wmv (or whatever video file format MS uses), or whatever the wmp will handle. So don't expect to download with itune.

PSP Doesn't Do iPod Format Vids
Apr 29, 2007 12:37PM PDT

I don't know what the exact difference is, but the PSP doesn't play videos formatted for the iPod (like CNET's own vodcasts, for example). There's some tiny difference in what exact AVC encoding they use, but it renders the two mutually incompatible.

The new Sony Video Walkman (http://tinyurl.com/33rj7h) does - but it looks like Sony may not release it in the States.

Care to link an example? I can't actually see where CNET do video podcasts.

PSP Won't Do iTunes Video

It uses a different version of the Mpeg-4 container.
