But I didn't read where you wiped off the old heatsink compound and applied fresh compound. There are YouTubes aplenty on this work so I'll pause here.
I have recently went to install a new cpu to my computer, but found out it didnt work, i was unclear what cpu socket the one i bought at the time was. Well i took out the gpu, then the mother board, when i went to try to put it on, i didnt jam anything or push on anything hard. I found out it didnt work, installed my old cpu cooler back on it, put it all back. Then i went on to install new fans on my case, went smoothly. Well now when i go to play games on my computer, my computer will shut off on me, sometimes instantly, sometimes a little later, as much as 10 minutes. If i listen closely i do hear a noise from my gpu, i believe thats where its coming from. My gpu is brand new though, a Asus Strix 580x 8gb, so i doubt thats whats going on. Every so often i do see my screen go completely green, then back to normal, its rare but i see that on occasion now. My computer has no issues till i start a game. Any ideas whats causing this? Note: it is not my power supply, i checked it with a new power supply, was not the issue, and no it is not over heating, checked that also. Im thinking maybe my mother board when i took it out, might've short circuited from static? Any ideas will be helpful. Also my psu is 1000w, so yes its big enough, and is also brand new.
