Question

Any good free application to lock specific applications

Jun 9, 2018 12:00AM PDT

Hello,
I have a steam link that I use to stream games to my bedroom TV from my Windows 10 HTPC which is setup in my living room. Each time I have to unlock the PC to be able to stream via steam link. I was wondering if there is any free application that I can use to lock specific applications like Chome, Windows Explorer etc. so that I can leave the PC unlocked but specific apps locked. I tried searching the internet but I am worried about malware, viruses etc.

Can you explain what you mean with "unlock the PC" and "lock an application"?

Is that your PC runs the game and can't multitask so anyone that wanted to use that PC would interrupt your gaming. So that's not the issue yet.

As to locking apps, Windows since NT and XP already does this but it's not obvious to the casual user. It involves PERMISSIONS and you revoke permissions to what apps you choose which is a lot of work.

You could start with having a Standard User for other folk and your gaming account.

Remember I take it this is YOUR PC and not shared. That is, gamers shouldn't have shared PCs anyway.
