Any future Dem runners for President

by TONI H / November 2, 2004 9:02 PM PST

need to take a hard, long look at the States that favored Republicans the last three or four elections and realize that bringing candidates in from northern states amounts to a loss nearly every time...if not every time.

The southern and middle states are the ones that have Wal-Marts not Starbucks and the people who live in those states have a totally different outlook on what they want/need for themselves and their country...and will continue to vote for the person who represents the same outlook.

The Dem states (in blue) look like a two sided picture frame around the rest of the United States...and this picture just hasn't changed much over the last few elections. The Dems have GOT to look for great (not just good or mediocre) candidates who come from areas that respond well and are readily accepted by the people they want to most represent. And they better make damned sure that whoever they pick actually has a record for standing up for the people they represent because, although Kerry took MASS, NC literally turned up their noses at Edwards right off the bat.

If the Dems are serious about wanting to get back into the White House, they better start paying closer attention to the people who will be voting again the next time. Hopefully for them, this will be a lesson learned and not ignored.

Just my point of view......

Don't pick a liberal from Massachusetts as your nominee.

otherwise they would have nominated a winner. As it is votes are still being counted..not that Kerry is still in the race.

Hopefully this country will survive another four years of spend and dont tax and big business is always right politics...meanwhile I havent been able to get a flu shot yet and may not be around to see what happens!

You can blame that on Clinton.

Dukakis and Kerry are Northeaster, but

Gore and Edwards aren't.

True, but

neither carried their own state and neither will be heard from again if we are lucky. For all intents and purposes Gore was really from DC, not Tennessee.

It's probably moot.

IMO, they plan to run Hillary in '08 and that's why they picked a losing team to run in '04.

Clay..Thank you. But unfortunately no one will be able to repair the economic damage of spend spend spend for another four years. And the spending will not put $$$$$'s in your pocket or mine!
