Any digicam that can compete with the Fuji FinePix F30?

by joemin97 / March 28, 2006 6:14 AM PST

E.g. In this price range, Picture quality...Low light / low noise and high ISO capability.

I am just waiting for the F30's release. Unless there is someone in these forums that can convince me otherwise, this is the digicam I'm purchasing and definitely the digicam to beat this year.

There is another digicam I'm might consider, that is the Olympus Stylus 810. But the lack of reviews and reports of high noise in high ISO, still makes me lean towards the F30.

Fujifilm F30

A lot of people are waiting for the F30.
It looks the best so far for a low light camera.

It is supposed to be in the stores in England and Europe in May. Fujifilm has not said if it will be available in the USA.
But there is a store in Hawaii that was selling the F11 which is not available in the USA.
Maybe they will be selling the F30 too.

For a preview of what the Olympus Stylus 810 will do, take a look at some photos from the Olympus Stylus 710:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/stylus710_samples.html

There are three photos taken at ISO 800.
They show a good bit of noise when viewed at full size. But look pretty good when viewed at normal size.

Hi snapshot2! Thank you for the link to the Olympus Stylus 710.

The style/ergonomics of the 710/810 is what I like about the models. If only the high ISO images were as good as the F10/F11, I'd definitely purchase it instead of waiting for the F30. There is also the factor of a forced lower resolution when in higher ISOs (along with the higher noise) on the 710/810.

Sigh...I'll set aside my money and wait patiently then for the F30.

Same here in the USA, the projected release date is in the May-June time frame.
