ANY CAMERA THAT YOU CAN SEE THE SCREEN IN SUNLIGHT

May 27, 2010 9:02PM PDT

I have a Canon SX200is I love the camera except when trying to take pictures in sunlight. Since I have old eyes it would sure help if there is a hood or something I can put on it. Are there any camera that you can see the screen in sunlight?

Hard to beat the nuclear source here. If we look back in time, hoods and more are very well known solutions.

PS. Update since you asked again years later.

But I added a hood when I needed it. Some newer camera buyers forget we can fashion such with little effort. Many are looking for a solution they don't have to create themselves. Example follows.

my best suggestion

Is to buy a camera with an LCD that moves. I used a Canon G2 for a very long time and it's screen was extremely poor compared to LCDs of today but in sunlight it didn't cause a problem because you can just angle it so the sun no longer reflects the light at a poor angle.

How to see camera display screen in sunlight
Sep 25, 2015 2:02AM PDT

Found the answer. Ahhhhh serendipity! Wanted to take a shot of some beautiful cloud formations and expected the screen to be washed out as usual. Instead, it was clear as anything; you see, I was wearing a pair of polarized sunglasses. Took them off and couldn't see a thing, put them back on and I could frame the shots perfectly despite being in bright sunshine. I only wish I would have discovered this sooner. Hope that helps.
