Any camera that meets my criteria?

Oct 5, 2004 7:26AM PDT

I'm looking for a intermediate-level digital camera that fits this criteria:

-At least 4 megapixels
-Take solid photos with accurate color, exposure
-Produces minimal fringing
-Has a decent, at least 15fps VGA movie mode
-Focuses quickly even in dim light
-Has minimal shutter lag and fast shot-to-shot time
-Compact, but preferably ultracompact

Any suggestions?

I've considered the Kodak Easyshare CX7530 and Canon Powershot SD300. Are these good?

The Canon SD300 looks very promising. I would check out:

The Canon SD300 has a bigger LCD and a higher FPS on the movie mode. I would read some threads there about the Kodak. IMO, I heard really good things about the Canon. You can look into the SD200 as well if you don't mind the 3 megapix (plenty for 5x7 prints)

Note: some threads reference the IXUS 30 & 40. This is the European name for the SD200 & 300 respectively. In Japan I think they're the IXY 30 & 40.

Try the Minolta X-31 or X-50
