General discussion

any 100gig mp3 players being sold?

Oct 18, 2005 7:17AM PDT

So, I have mountains and mountains of mp3s. I have a 20 gig mp3 player, but that just isn't enough. In fact, it's now getting to the point that my laptop's hard drive is also filling up. I have an external drive for backup purposes, but I really want to be able to play all my music on the go, so I've been looking into players with larger drives... but the largest I've seen has been 60 gig, which is decent, but not enough to convince me to buy a new player. I'd really like to see a 100gig player; do any exist?

Yeah, I know about the XClef HD500. I might have even bought one, had they been in stock, which they're not, and won't be for the forseeable future. Are they really the only company that's ever made a player with a 100gig drive?

Yes.

I have a Vosonic that you could put in an 100 or I see a 120GB drive for. However, it seems to be a bit much and the battery life is just a few hours.

holy cow! what kind of music do you listen 2! Anyway, yur right, a 60GB is probably the closest yur gonna get, unless you want that 120GB one that the moderator suggested. Jeez!

That's precisely the problem - I like music of all sorts. Lots of said music can be obtained for free, legally (or, in the case of ******* pop, quasilegally). Then there's all the music floating around the lan... and many dozen cds I own hard copies of but prefer not having to carry around... I've got lots of music.

Archos AV700

Archos makes a PVP by the name of AV700, it comes in 100 GB so that's an option. However, it is too big to fit in a pocket, so it's fine for just listening on a plane or in a car, but not while walking around. There is a plus... you can record video on it too. but it's $700

Good Luck!

whoosh.

Yeah, no. I'm willing to spend a fair amount of money, but not that much, especially given that I really only want it for music, not for videos. So that'd be silly (plus I really would like to be able to keep it in a pocket). Oh well.

toshiba just released the 2.5 inch 200GB hard drive. you could get a Creative Zen Xtra 40gb, and just replace the hard drive if you wanted to.
