It's two different areas.
Look into avast free or avg free and see if either fits your needs for av.

Now setup your own backup and restore method.

I do agree that they are different areas but I just curious to know whether there are some software which can fulfil both these areas.

Further i will definitely try on avast and avg as well.

Thanks

Av and backup

I'm not aware of such a product but perhaps another member will be along who is aware of such a thing.

I've used avast for years and it has not caused me any fuss.
It does take a little playing around at first to get it setup to your liking but I suppose that's true of any av.

Backups.
There's more than a few programs/methods in this area so you will have to determine what you want to do and then find something that fits.

I will try on with Avast first.
But I will keep on finding the amazing combination software which is hard to get.

thanks by the way

Symantec tried that.

And look how it worked out. These are very different things.

I will share I keep a list of free recovery apps at the top of the CNET Storage Forum under "Lost and Found or the welcome thread." But for Antivirus I went back to Microsoft as their Defender did a U turn and is now scoring well.

It's also light on the load.

In the 2 years since I did this, second opinion scans only turn up cookies which are not a threat.

Found Something
Jul 25, 2016 10:56PM PDT

Hi there,

Thanks for your view.
But I think that my search is showing some results. When I was surfing the internet for some good antivirus software with data recovery features, then I found out some antivirus software on snapdeal with Name Protegent. I found this antivirus at http://www.amazon.in/Protegent-Internet-Security-Recovery-Software/dp/B01G4Z6UUI

Can you give some review on the this, so that I can be sure to buy it.

Their antivirus is much cheaper than their internet security (350 versus 1000). So it seems you did a rather bad search. Anyway, they say it's "World's only Antivirus with Data Recovery Software". If they are right (and why shouldn't they) you can stop searching.

It's a very strange combination (combatting virusses and recovering deleted files, folders, partitions and unformat). Did you read any serious comparison about the antivirus quality? it's not in http://in.pcmag.com/antivirus-from-pc-ma/34241/guide/the-best-antivirus-protection-of-2016 by Neil Rubenking.

I'v never needed recovery software. But maybe you're somebody who doesn't back up, and randomly deletes folders and partitions by accident?

Until that product gets run through a review site you won't know what your buying.

With the free av progs available and free backup progs available it's tough to justify buying a shot in the dark package.

It's your call.

Finally Got Protegent Internet Security : Fingers Crossed
Aug 4, 2016 11:50PM PDT

After going through the protegent antivirus products, I was wailing to take up the risk to actually check the feature of the product really works or not. So I ordered Protegent Internet security antivirus which they mentioned have the features of data recovery as well.

When the products got delivered to my place, I installed it my system and the updates were asked to installed which I did. After doing all this, I put the product key in the antivirus which got me a subscription of 1 year.

After doing all this, I really wanted to check the feature of data recovery software - Crash Proof. Before deleting any data or file to be recovered, I ensured that Crash Proof has created image of my hard disk or not. Because usually suggested by the customer care that the image of hard disk is created each day automatically or I can create it forcefully anytime of the day.

After checking that the image has been created, I deleted one of my file in D Drive using shift+delete which deleted it permanently. After doing this, I opened Crash Proof software and selected the Drive C . The data recovery software found out the various file of which there was my file as well. I clicked on it and set the path to save the particular file. It took around 30 seconds to recover a file of 10 mb. Really happy with this product till now.

That's not what's commonly called data recovery. That's called 'restore' from a 'backup'.

Re: Antivirus Software with Data Recovery

I don't think that the antivirus software creates a backup to restore at a particular time.
I had a word to the customer representative of the product.
I do believe that the antivirus software create a table which stores the mapping of data present on the logical space with the address of it on the physical storage.

When some file is deleted from the logical space, it is only deleted from logical space and not from the physical space which gets free to be override.

During the recovery procedure, the software searches for the recently deleted files from the logical space and provides the list of deleted files.

The user can then select the file to be recovered which then is restored by referring to the table created which contains the respective address of the file at physical storage.
