The difference is that one does more than

the other. Personally I do not like suites of any kind but you still need the protection they give. I prefer to use one seperate antivirus program, one seperate firewall and a few seperate spyware and adware programs so if one if them goes down I don't lose all the protection at the same time. That is just my personal preference though.

Usually the AV is one component....

of a larger Suite of security tools. Among them could be spyware protection, firewalling and disk utilities.

No I didn't say to install both. I believe that

the Panda Internet Security comes with both an antivirus AND a firewall so if you install that, you will not need the antivirus program seperate because it is already in the internet security suite. What I said in my previous post was that personally I do not like suites of any brand whether it be Panda, Norton, McAfee or whoever. If something happens to corrupt it, you lose both the firewall and the antivirus at the same time. Some people like those kind of programs, I do not but that does not make them bad, it is just my personal choice. Like I said before, I have one brand of firewall, another brand of antivirus and numerous spyware/adware programs.

I use more than most because I test a lot

of them to see how good they are and also so I know what I'm taking about when I help someone with one of them LOL so I won't list them all but I use Ad-Aware SE, Spybot S&D, Microsoft AntiSpyware, SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard by Javacool as my regular scanners and blockers. I also either use OR have on hand cswshredder, HijackThis and I scan occasionally with a-squared's anti trojan scanner. Those are all free. Like I said I have others but only for test purposes because the main ones that I listed have kept everything out for me. The only one that ever finds anything is Ad-Aware and that is always just a tracking cookie or two.

Spyware detection software

I use all the same programs that the previous post listed.
He stated that Adaware is the only one that finds anything.
That is because he doesn't have any spyware to find.
Adaware will find cookies that you would want to delete, but those are not spyware.

I clean lots of spyware from systems and you will need to use ALL of the programs. NONE of them catches everything.

Adaware, spybot , and M$ antispyware generally catch all the spyware. But I have had some that required Hijackthis, especially browser hijackers.

M$ will only install and run in Normal mode.
The others can and should be run in SAFE mode to do cleanup.

I personally use Trendmicro Internet Security 2005.
I don't run the firewall, I am behind a router and don't feel the need for it. (Please don't go on about one way protection anyone.) If you need a firewall and you are not a LAN this one will do. I didn't like how the setup went so I would use something else, but the antivirus is great.

Have not tried PANDA, although I have used their free online scan.
