Antivirus override!

by Lenmad / November 4, 2005 8:37 PM PST

I ran spybot today and it found the following: Microsoft security center: Antivirus override. Can anyone advise on this? Should I quarantine it? thanks.

I have not heard it put quite that way before but USUALLY what that is is Spybot telling you that the Microsoft Security Center's notification that your antivirus protection ''Notice'' is disabled. I'm not sure if you will understand what I just said, it's difficult to explain. For an example, I use NAV and I have NAV notifying me if and when my antivirus is disabled so I have the notice in the Microsoft Security Center for that particular notification disabled. Spybot picks that up so I have Spybot excluding that particular detection but it is NOT worded as ''Antivirus override'' so I'm not sure if it is the same thing or not. Mine was labeled ''antivirus notification disabled'' or something similiar, I don't remember exactly.

Sorry, but I have no idea what your response means. I'm with Lenmad: what is Spybot trying to do? And, would it be a mistake to allow the quarantine? In other words, should the quarantine of the Windows Security Center.AntiVirusOverride registry setting be allowed, or not?

Spybot also wants to quarantine another similar registry setting: Windows Security Center.FirewallOverride.

of changes that you PROBABLY made yourself. If you have Spybot fix or quarantine, then it will change the settings that you made yourself. I have never seen it worded as "override" though. This link at the Spybot Forum is a discussion about similiar detections to what you are seeing. See if that answers your question.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
