Anti Virus Programs

Apr 23, 2004 10:51PM PDT

As part of the Road Runner ISP we customers get several freebies, including anti virus protection: e Trust EZ Armor Security Suite from Computer Associates. I'd like opinions about this program. I've always used either McAfee or Norton. I read somewhere reviews comparing the available anti virus programs and wonder if there are recent, recommended reviews available? The reason for this inquiry is due to me having to choose which program to reinstall on my Toshiba laptop which required a new hard drive.
And finally, do each of you moderators look at the postings of each forum, i.e. Computer Help and Computer Newbies? If so, seems to me this would preclude having to post the same question on both forums. Thanks.

John,

The most appropriate procedure for making posts it to start with a single forum, wait for a few days, and if there's no response, or don't like it for some reason, then try another one. After you visit a particular forum for a while, you become comfortable with those members suggestions, and you may prefer one forum over another.. It's your choice, but as you have indicated, it's a little difficult for anyone following responses to keep up with the same post in multiple forums.

Each volunteer moderator has a designated forum, or two, or three, but that doesn't mean that each moderator will only visit those particular forums. Each mod has their own preference depending on their interests and the amount of time they have to spend on any particular day. Some mods stay "home" most of the time, others visit many different forums.

In regards to which antivirus is best, that's a personal choice based on YOUR preferences, the types of computer use you're involved in, the number of computers you work with and their support requirements, and the computer configurations that you're dealing with. Doing some research for reviews on "Google" and simply asking questions of knowledgable friends, family, and forum members will get you some good information. But the final test will be the program you prefer. For example, if you're familiar with McAfee or Norton, and you like their programs, then watch for discounts and sales at local retailers. I've seen BOTH of those programs for free after rebates, etc.

Hope this helps.
