You first wrote, "sometime away i joined mcafee security as my original norton service had expired". You then said you installed AVG. Did you completely remove all but one anti-virus? Running more than one at the same time, might be partly contributing to your slowdown. Not being clear, which one you eventually chose, I'm going to include all 3 removal tools. They remove leftover files, which the stand uninstall tend to miss.

It's safe to use more than one spyware tool. Perhaps, someone else will further explain the "whys and hows" of it, as I'm rather short on time at the moment.

im using windows xp on a dell 4550 desk top pc i recently recently rejoined aol after sometime away i joined mcafee security as my original norton service had expired.im now getting serious slow down of pc i have run scan on mcafee and it has picked up a platte virus "not mbs billing"no pop ups happen but my system is so slow its nearly at stop.mcafee detects but cant delete all of platte issue so i was advised to download avg which i did once again avg picking up virus but security warning is still coming up now n then and my system still slow.
a:-is it safe to have more than one spyware tool on your pc
b:-can someone please help me.
