anti virse soft ware

Apr 7, 2007 5:22AM PDT

With all the anti virse software available, which one would be the best for OS X. I am upgrading my G4 sawtooth with new superdrive and processor from the orginal DVD and 400mhz proceesor. I already upgraded the ram to 1.2 ghz. Any suggestions were to buy and what to upgrade too.

The problem is.. what virus would we be protecting against?

Quite often this is spillover from the Windows world where new to MacOSX owners are looking for all the items we must have on Windows.

The Apple world is different.

Upgrades for Sawtooth
Apr 15, 2007 11:08PM PDT

If you have not already purchased you new processor and superdrive, take a look a macsales.com
I upgraded my sawtooth to dual 1.25Ghz processors from them and have had no problem with it. Likewise the Superdrive.
Remember that the Sawtooth does not have a powered AGP slot so the use of the ADC connector becomes complicated. If you do not have an older Apple monitor with ADC, it is not too much of a problem.
Hard Drive size is limited to 127GB because of Logical Block Addressing (LBA) limitations. You can put a larger drive in there but the machine will only recognize 127GB. (that number could be 137GB but I think that I only get 127 in mine)

Anti-Virus software has already been addressed.

upgrade for sawtooth

I like to thank everyone who replied to my reguest for info: I will look at macsales again for the upgrade. I am using a flat screen LCD monitor now. I hope by doing the upgrade, I can save big $$$$$ instead of buying a new computer. Old macs never die, they just get obsolete. I have already had 5 apples, starting with the apple II to my present G4. again Thanks to everyone.
