Antenna or no Antenna

Sep 29, 2004 12:43PM PDT

I would like to purchase a wireless g usb adapter for my notebook. I currently have a Blittz BWU 713. I am on a college campus and am wondering if I should get an adapter with an antenna (like the Linksys WUSB54GP)or one without (Linksys WUSB54G). I will also be using this adapter with a desktop in the future. There is a big price difference between adapters with antennas and adapters without antennas and I want to know if its worth buying an adapter with an antenna. As an alternative is it okay to use a USB extension cable to function as an antenna? If you have any recommendations or suggestions please let me know. Email is: dmpate@wm.edu (the campus spam filter tends to block hotmail).

1. If you don't see the antenna, it still has one.

2. The USB cable is not "the" antenna, but I will share I use the extension cables to more the USB Wifi dongles out from under the desktop to where the signal is better.

From what I know of the two USB adapters they are the same. The Linksys WUSB54G is older then the WUSB54GP so that is why there is a price gap. They both have antennas. And for the USB extension cable might be good if you need to get the antennas up and into the signal area, and that is only if the reception is not good.
