Another SOS by a Techno-Dummy

I have an HP Deskjet 3845 that has decided to get stuck in this strange and exceptionally slow function... as in it takes over 20 minutes to print a single page.

It's only 4 years old and well taken care of but I can't for the life of me, get it to re-set and function right.

Any ideas?

It is sad to say

that nowadays printers are so cheap, you might do better just to buy another one.

If the problem is mechanical and not software settings related then it will be difficult to find a repair shop that will fix it for you at a reasonable price. By reasonable I mean less than the printer is now worth.

I understand where you're coming from but I have $200.00 in ink sitting here for this machine... if I can just get it to live out that much longer... (I know, that sounds silly but I exist on exceptionally tight budgets).

Too, I hate 95% of the new printers out that seem to do 101 other things besides the one thing you want them to do. I have a huge flat bed scanner I don't need that little dinky waste of space most of the new ones now come with... I've never been able to get a printer to work properly as a FAX machine and yet this is a so-called "feature" on most of the newer models... "sigh" the list goes on... I'm old fashioned, I just want a printer that's reliable as a printer... can't find those any more.

If you really want

You can find one of the printers on EBay for reasonable price. It seems that would be an affordable solution to use up the ink you have on hand. The cost to replace the printer with a functioning one is cheaper than getting it repaired.
