Another RIS question about Guid//UUID

by anthonyaudi / June 4, 2008 4:06 AM PDT

Ok I have a question
when I am trying to install my machines VIA RIS everything goes fine I have no problems with the actual RIS my only problem is I do not want it to randomly assign it a computer name.
What I am doing now is creating the computer in my active directory and I am doing so with the UUID (I am using compaq machines and they have the UUID in the BIOS)
what is happening is it seems to still be creating a random computer name and giving it a completely different UUID on the page where the RIS tells you what computer name it will get.

Anyone have any ideas on this one?

Seems to be your next step. I can't teach such things but there are fine classes, web pages and more out there. In a pinch I know some IT staffers pay Microsoft to do this.

If its worth doing, then pay the man to ask them about it. I can't count how many times it's a bug and MS has the cure.
