You can add 512mb PC 2700 RAM yourself (to go from 256mb to 768mb) later yourself easily at retail (200 pin notebook RAM) for under $100 on sale -- or a 2nd 256mb RAM module would be about half that if on sale.
Keep the Pentium M notebook if you already have that-- the 15.4" widescreen is nice for DVD's and spreadsheets (see more columns to right and left) versus the 15" square LCD on the Pentium 4.
